What is it about?
The Training School focuses on the Techno-Economic aspects of Mobile networks and the Internet,emphasising on realistic examples and business case studies from Europe.

Is it for me?
Yes, if you are an early stage researcher (e.g. a PhD Student) with an interest in engineering, media, or business research. Researchers enrolled in a COST country are eligible to participate.

What will be the benefit from attending?
There are manifold benefits from attending this training school. An interactive learning approach will give you a diverse perspective on the Techno-Economics of Mobile Networks and the Internet. In addition, you will have the opportunity to present your research work to fellow researchers and receive feedback from expert trainers. By taking part in these activities, you will:
- Acquire diverse knowledge of techno-economics for current and future networks
- Participate in discussion groups focusing on your interests
- Gain tips and ideas for your ongoing research projects
- Deal with questions and elaborate on your research plans
- Receive an ECTS Course Certificate from AAU to include in your CV


What will I learn?
You will have the opportunity to receive training on a wide range of techno-economic topics, focusing particularly on Mobile Networks and the Internet. For more details on the lecture programme and timetable, please visitCourse Description:
- Learn about Innovation Diffusion Theory (IDT) and its relation to the ICT field
- Understand the Information Society and its development within the European Union
- Learn about charging & accounting technologies for the Internet
- Understand foresight methodologies with examples in policy advisory studies
- Understand the theory and design processes of value networks in Internet
- Learn about international roaming and competition policy in telecom
- Learn about Autonomic Management and its applicability to mobile networks
- Learn about techno-economic evaluation of business prospects of telecom networks


How will the training be carried out?
The main part will involve lectures from university professors and researchers. There will be extended presentation sessions where you can talk about your work (e.g. PhD thesis outline, published paper) and receive feedback in an informal atmosphere. Finally, group work sessions will focus on the particular interests of attendants and provide a discussion forum to exchange ideas and network with peers. All training will take place between 9:00-17:30 (programme online).

How much do I have to pay?
There is no registration fee, so you will only have to pay for your subsistence and travel expenses. An affordable 3-day lunch package will be available to purchase locally, and you may also attend the social event dinner (advance booking required, fee paid locally). You may also apply for a grant to further reduce your expenses.

Are there any grants for early stage researchers?
Yes, there is a limited number of grants for PhD students, allocated on a priority basis (i.e. date of application). Priority will also be given to researchers who opt to present their work during interactive sessions. Early application is advised, using the application form from www.cost605.org. You are eligible for a grant if you are enrolled in an academic institution of a signatory COST IS0605 country. Grants will be paid directly to your bank account after the school.

Great! How do I sign up?
Simply download the Application Form, complete and return it by email to Prof. Patrick Maillé. Please note that if you wish to request a Grant, it is advised to apply as soon as possible, and no later than 9th April 2010. We will aim to reply to grant requests within 5 working days from application receipt. The last day for participation application is 16th April 2010. You only need to submit one application.
